A day that shall not be forgotten in our lifetime.

Freedom, said George Bush in Sarasota in the first sentence of his first reaction, was attacked this morning by a faceless coward.

The Day Started Out Pretty Normal

I had spent the better part of the morning and afternoon working in the backyard with a neighbor putting up a new gate in the garden when my wife returned home from shopping. She asked me if I had heard what was going on in New York.

Mark and I both stopped our hammering and looked up.

  • "A plane had flown into The World Trade Centre Building in New York!"
  • "Another plane had also crashed into The World Trade Centre Building in New York!"
  • "Another plane had crashed into The Pentagon!"
  • "Another plane had crashed somewhere else closeby!"

Being on vacation, I have spent the next 48 hours watching television and scouring the internet for news.

What Is Next?
As you sit and read this page, the United States has already begun to poise itself for counter attacks. The military has located warships strategically on the Atlantic, the Pacific, and in the Far East.
American sentiment is demanding retaliation and so far President Bush has remained calm while his military, intelligence, and law enforcement officials collect evidence.
Some sources claim there may be several groups responsible, both domestic and abroad.
